暑假回臺灣，第二週做什麼？
如果你們家今年夏天要帶孩子回臺灣，第一週的行程大概不用安排：阿公阿嬤、夜市、那家牛肉麵，然後再去看一次阿公阿嬤。都很美好。然後大約第八天，孩子拉著你的袖子問："我們今天要幹嘛？"
好訊息是：臺灣的博物館和藝文場館，這幾年已經悄悄變成對孩子最友善的一批場館，而 2026 年暑假的節目特別強——整座城市的兒童藝術節、故宮裡免費的神獸闖關、一間會發光的史萊姆實驗室，還有（手速夠快的話）睡在 84 米海底隧道旁、看鯊魚從頭頂遊過的一晚。
對海外家庭還有一個隱藏福利：這些地方全部用中文運轉——導覽員說中文、展板寫中文、旁邊的小孩用中文大呼小叫。這兩個星期，中文不再是週六中文學校的語言，而是冒險的語言。文章最後會講怎麼把這件事用好。

臺北 6 個點
臺北兒童藝術節（6/30–8/6）
暑假的主場活動。169 場演出、橫跨 12 個行政區、31 組國際團隊，很多場次免費入場——偶戲、馬戲、光影、音樂，整座城市變成孩子的遊樂場。
三檔值得排進行程的演出：
- 《幾米男孩的100次勇敢》——林懷民 × 幾米 × FOCASA 馬戲，視覺震撼的大型製作。
- 《月亮找朋友》——為 3–7 歲設計，肢體多、口語少，中文還在發展中的孩子也看得懂。
- 《紙淘氣 逃出去》——澳洲偶劇團把紙張變成超大立體書的逃脫冒險。
故宮《海怪國探險記》——免費神獸闖關
故宮全新的兒童學藝中心是一整個闖關遊戲：神獸當關主，孩子答對問題就能從神獸肚子裡取出寶物、用光影和真實茶具體驗茶文化、用數位互動修復古畫的顏色，最後挑一幅畫作、蓋上專屬印章帶回家。千年文物，邊玩邊認識。完全免費，5 歲以上，正館 B1（士林），週一休。
〈神獸夜未眠〉親子夜宿
閉館之後，孩子提著燈、跟著策展人在暗下來的展廳裡找神獸，然後在正館三樓大廳鋪開睡袋過夜。只有兩梯——7/18 和 8/1——7 歲以上，親子雙人 NT$2,700 起，每梯限 30 人，含晚間點心和隔天早餐。如果這聽起來像你家孩子的夢想，現在就訂。
科教館・史萊姆夜光實驗室
科教館 7 樓，1000 平方公尺的暗房裡，巨型史萊姆在紫外光下整個發亮，還有共振鼓和各種會回應觸碰的互動裝置。孩子可以親手做一顆"能量膠囊"帶回家。6/11–8/30，單人 NT$490，含 3–6 樓常設展——排一整天很合理。也在士林。
天文館・"銀河不可思議之旅"免費特展
走進無限鏡屋，整個人被滿天星河包圍；再進沉浸式劇場，像直接衝進銀河中心——連銀河和仙女座星系相撞的遙遠未來都看得到。特展免費（一樓特展室，展至 10/11），看完旁邊就是宇宙探險軌道車和太空基地。一樣在士林，週一休。
臺灣博物館・古生物大展
在臺博土銀展示館：180 公分的恐龍大腿骨、鯨魚骨骼、中生代琥珀，還有臺灣本土的左鎮動物群、澎湖動物群化石。孩子可以用 AR"召喚史前巨獸"，看 3D 三葉蟲遊過。展至 2026/12/31，30 元玩遍兩館——全城最划算。臺大醫院站旁，週一休。
士林小撇步：故宮、天文館、科教館都在士林。排成一天——早上神獸、午後史萊姆、晚飯前看星星。

臺中國家歌劇院
伊東豐雄"全世界最難蓋的建築"免費入場，孩子把"聲音的涵洞"曲牆當成太空船鑽進鑽出。6 樓空中花園免費開放，白色山丘加淺水景可以玩水；逛累了 B2 有繪本閱讀角落。暑假兩檔親子劇：《小花國王》7/11–12、《月亮找朋友》8/8–9（就是臺北兒藝節那出，北部錯過可以在這裡補）。週一休。
臺中綠美圖
全臺第一座"圖書館＋美術館"合體，2025 年才開幕，SANAA（妹島和世）設計——一組白色盒子包著銀色金屬網，門口一片鏡面水池。裡面有分齡的兒童閱覽區和中文故事圈，孩子自己挑繪本、聽故事。緊鄰臺中中央公園，看完展直接放電野餐。圖書館、公共空間、公園大多免費。
故宮南院
為家庭而生的故宮。兒童創意中心——5–12 歲專屬的互動空間——免費、免預約。今年夏天的親子藝術月加碼實境解謎、套印集章和戶外兒童劇；《錯字書法特展》（6/16–9/6）的切入點孩子一聽就懂：古人也會寫錯字。傍晚留下來看至善湖的免費水舞。嘉義太保，週一休。
衛武營童樂節（7/4–19）
衛武營長得像一棵大榕樹，曲面鋼構的榕樹廣場平常就免費讓孩子跑跳。童樂節期間（主題"出發吧，探險隊！"）加上 5 檔親子劇——包括用亞洲最大管風琴演出的《渡渡鳥去哪了？》——還有免費工作坊、闖關、迷你足球、黃昏市集和親子電影院。捷運直達。
夜宿海生館
屏東海生館讓全家睡在 84 米海底隧道、大洋池或企鵝極地區旁——鯊魚和白鯨從頭頂遊過，孩子在水光裡睡著。含夜間導覽、後場參觀、餵食體驗和三餐。3 歲起，每人 NT$2,680 起（隧道白鯨場 NT$3,380），暑假名額幾乎秒殺——確定日期就馬上訂。新特展"極境漫遊 66.5 度"還有 270° 極光沉浸劇場。
江賢二藝術園區
臺東東河、太平洋邊，大師親手打造的山海藝術世界：五棟清水模建築嵌進山坡，步道走著走著就是海景和山景。戶外雕塑散落園區像尋寶，會動的音樂裝置〈金樽／淨化之夜〉是孩子一看就懂的藝術——因為它真的會動。特展《光之花園 & 歐洲隨筆》展至 8/31，7 歲以下免費，週二休。
行程小撇步：臺中兩館（歌劇院＋綠美圖）排同一天；高雄衛武營接屏東海生館，順路串成南部兩日遊。
讓旅行替你教中文
行李箱收好之後，真正重要的是這件事：對海外長大的孩子來說，這樣的兩個星期，抵得上好幾個月的正式課——前提是你讓中文進來。
幾個小動作就夠了：
- 選中文導覽，不選英文的。孩子聽得懂的遠比說得出的多，而且展品替每個詞配好了畫面。
- 讓孩子先讀展板。臺灣的展籤短、字大、就貼在實物旁邊——世界上最友善的閱讀練習。
- 回程的捷運上，用中文把今天聊一遍。"哪隻神獸最可怕？"比任何練習冊都好用，因為孩子真的有話想說。
- 讓孩子"偷聽"。在這些場館裡，旁邊的小孩正用最大音量、全程中文地實況轉播一切。這種環境輸入，正是海外童年最缺的。
這趟旅行會種下兩個星期的詞彙：神獸、恐龍、星星、鯊魚、史萊姆。真正的問題是九月——海底隧道遠在天邊、週六中文學校重新開學的時候，怎麼辦？

The Summer Trip Home
If your family is flying back to Taiwan this summer, you already know how the first week goes. Grandparents, night markets, that one beef noodle place, more grandparents. All wonderful. And then, somewhere around day eight, a kid tugs your sleeve: "What are we doing today?"
Here's the good news: Taiwan's museums and arts venues have quietly become some of the most kid-friendly in the world, and summer 2026 is a particularly strong season. There's a citywide children's arts festival, a free mythical-beast quest inside the National Palace Museum, a glow-in-the-dark slime laboratory, and — if you book fast — a night spent sleeping next to an 84-meter ocean tunnel while sharks glide overhead.
There's a bonus for heritage families, too. Every one of these places runs in Chinese: the docents, the signage, the kids shouting next to yours. For two weeks, Chinese stops being the language of Saturday school and becomes the language of adventures. More on how to lean into that at the end.

Six Stops in Taipei
Taipei Children's Arts Festival 臺北兒童藝術節 (6/30–8/6)
The anchor event of the summer. 169 performances across all 12 districts, 31 international companies, and many shows completely free — puppetry, circus, light shows, music. For five weeks the whole city turns into a kids' playground.
Three shows worth planning around:
- 《幾米男孩的100次勇敢》 — Lin Hwai-min, Jimmy Liao, and FOCASA circus in one large-scale production. Visually stunning.
- 《月亮找朋友》 — made for ages 3–7, heavy on movement and light on dialogue, so it works even if your child's Chinese is still developing.
- 《紙淘氣 逃出去》 — an Australian puppet company turns sheets of paper into a giant pop-up-book escape adventure.
A Free Mythical-Beast Quest at the Palace Museum 故宮《海怪國探險記》
The National Palace Museum's rebuilt children's gallery is a full quest game: mythical beasts guard four stations, and kids answer questions to pull treasures out of a beast's belly, experience tea culture through light and real teaware, digitally restore the colors of ancient paintings, and mount a painting with their own seal stamp to take home. A thousand years of artifacts, absorbed sideways while playing. Completely free, ages 5+, basement of the main building in Shilin, closed Mondays.
Sleep Inside the Palace Museum 〈神獸夜未眠〉
After closing time, the museum hands kids lanterns and sends them hunting for mythical beasts through the darkened galleries, with a curator leading the way. Then everyone rolls out sleeping bags in the third-floor hall. Two sessions only — July 18 and August 1 — for ages 7+, from NT$2,700 for a parent-child pair, capped at 30 people per night. The Glow-in-the-Dark Slime Lab 史萊姆夜光實驗室
On the 7th floor of the National Taiwan Science Education Center: 1,000 square meters of darkness where giant slime installations glow under UV light, drums resonate, and everything responds to touch. Kids make an "energy capsule" to bring home. Runs 6/11–8/30, NT$490 per person, and the ticket includes the permanent exhibits on floors 3–6 — realistically a full day. Also in Shilin.
A Free Trip Through the Galaxy at the Astronomical Museum 銀河不可思議之旅
The Taipei Astronomical Museum's special exhibit puts kids inside an infinity-mirror room wrapped in stars, then an immersive theater that feels like flying into the center of the Milky Way — including its far-future collision with Andromeda. The special exhibit is free (first-floor gallery, through 10/11), and the museum's orbital adventure cars and space station are right there afterwards. Shilin again, closed Mondays.
Dinosaurs and AR Beasts at the Taiwan Museum 古生物大展
At the National Taiwan Museum's Land Bank branch: a 180 cm dinosaur femur, whale skeletons, Mesozoic amber, and Taiwan's own fossil fauna from Zuozhen and Penghu. Kids can summon prehistoric giants through AR and watch trilobites swim in 3D. Through the end of 2026, and NT$30 covers both museum buildings — the best value in town. Right by NTU Hospital station, closed Mondays.
Shilin tip: the Palace Museum, the Astronomical Museum, and the Science Education Center are all in Shilin. Stack them into one glorious day — mythical beasts in the morning, slime after lunch, stars before dinner.
Six Stops Beyond Taipei
National Taichung Theater 臺中國家歌劇院
Toyo Ito's "hardest building in the world to build" is free to wander, and kids treat the curved-wall caverns like a spaceship to crawl through. The 6th-floor sky garden — white hills and shallow water features — is free too, and there's a picture-book reading corner on B2 for when everyone needs to sit down. Two family shows this summer: 《小花國王》 on 7/11–12 and 《月亮找朋友》 touring here 8/8–9 (the same show from the Taipei festival, if you miss it up north). Closed Mondays.
Taichung Green Museumbrary 綠美圖
Taiwan's first combined library-and-art-museum, opened in 2025 and designed by SANAA — a cluster of white boxes wrapped in silver mesh, with a mirror pool out front. Inside there's an age-banded children's reading area and a Chinese story circle where kids pick out picture books and listen along. It sits right next to Taichung Central Park, so the museum morning flows straight into an afternoon of running around. The library, public spaces, and park are all free.
The Palace Museum, Southern Branch 故宮南院
The Palace Museum built for families. The Children's Creative Center — an interactive space designed for ages 5–12 — is free, no reservation needed. This summer's family arts month adds a real-world puzzle quest with stamp collecting and outdoor children's theater, and the calligraphy special exhibit (6/16–9/6) has a hook kids immediately get: even the ancient masters wrote characters wrong sometimes. Stay for the free fountain show on the lake at dusk. In Chiayi's Taibao, closed Mondays.
Weiwuying's Children's Festival 衛武營童樂節 (7/4–19)
The National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts is shaped like a giant banyan tree, and its undulating Banyan Plaza is free for kids to run through year-round. During the festival ("出發吧，探險隊！"), it adds five family productions — including 《渡渡鳥去哪了？》, performed with Asia's largest pipe organ — plus free workshops, quest games, mini football, a dusk market, and a family cinema. Direct MRT access.
Overnight at the Aquarium 夜宿海生館
Pingtung's National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium lets families sleep beside the 84-meter ocean tunnel, the open-ocean tank, or the penguin zone — sharks and belugas gliding overhead as everyone falls asleep. The package includes a night tour, a behind-the-scenes visit, feeding time, and three meals. Ages 3+, from NT$2,680 per person (NT$3,380 for the beluga-tunnel section), and summer dates sell out almost instantly — book the moment you know your travel dates. The new "66.5°" polar exhibit adds a 270° aurora theater.
Paul Chiang Art Center 江賢二藝術園區
On the Pacific coast in Taitung's Donghe, the master painter's five fair-faced concrete buildings are set into a hillside, connected by walking paths that keep opening onto sea and mountain views. Outdoor sculptures are scattered through the grounds like a treasure hunt, and the kinetic music installation 〈金樽／淨化之夜〉 is the kind of art kids understand instantly — it moves. The special exhibit runs through 8/31, kids under 7 enter free, closed Tuesdays.
Routing tips: the two Taichung stops (theater + Green Museumbrary) fit in one day. Weiwuying and the aquarium chain naturally into a two-day southern loop — Kaohsiung first, then down the coast to Pingtung.
Let the Trip Do the Chinese Teaching
Here's the part that matters after the suitcases are unpacked: for a heritage kid, two weeks like this are worth months of formal lessons — if you let the Chinese in.
A few small moves make the difference:
- Take the Chinese-language docent tour, not the English one. Kids follow far more than they can produce, and the exhibits give them pictures for every word.
- Let them read the signs first. Exhibit labels in Taiwan are short, big, and next to the thing they describe — the friendliest reading practice that exists.
- Debrief in Chinese on the MRT home. "Which beast was the scariest?" is a better speaking prompt than any workbook, because your child actually has something to say.
- Let them eavesdrop. At these venues, the kids around yours are narrating everything in Chinese at maximum volume. That ambient input is precisely what an overseas childhood is missing.
The trip plants two weeks of words: 神獸, 恐龍, 星星, 鯊魚, 史萊姆. The real question is what happens in September, when the ocean tunnel is far away and Saturday school starts again.
